Class Descriptions
Pre-School:
We believe the pre-school years in a child's development are critical years. Care is taken to not only teach correct skills but also to instill a love for dance and music. Our classes teach musicality and large motor and listening skills in addition to basic dance technique. We do this with a positive, fun, and creative approach to engage the dancers and help to foster a love for dance. Care is taken to place dancers in the appropriate level class, not only by age but also by their own development.

​Dance Discovery: A class for the first time dancer ages 3-4 yrs old. This class will begin to teach the very basics of dance movement and introduce musicality to students in a very creative and fun environment. Classes are 45 minutes long.

​Pre-Ballet I: For dancers ages 4-5 covering very basic dance technique. Classes are 45 minutes long.

​Adv. Pre-Ballet I: A pre-ballet class for dancers ages 5-6. This class is one hour long focusing on more ballet technique.
Adv. Pre-Ballet II: A pre-ballet class for dancers ages 6-7. 1 year experience required. This class is one hour long focusing on more ballet technique.

​Jr. Jazz/Tap: This class is for dancers ages 5-7 and explores both basic jazz and tap technique. This class is one hour long.

​Hip Hop: This class is for dancers ages 5-7. Dancers will learn fun, beginning hip hop moves. This class is 45 minutes long.


Ballet:​
Ballet helps to instill a grace and proper placement in all forms of dance. Dancers will learn classical ballet steps and movements emphasizing proper form, placement, alignment, and terminology. Dancers may be required to stay in a level for more than one year if more development is needed. All classes are one hour except where noted.

​Ballet I: For dancers ages 8-10. A beginning ballet class for dancers with limited or no experience.

​Ballet II: For dancers ages 8-11 with 1 year minimum of ballet experience.

​Ballet III: For dancers ages 8-12 with 2 years experience or teacher recommendation. It is recommended that dancers take this along with a Ballet II or Ballet Technique class.

​Ballet III/IV: For dancers ages 9+. with 3 years minimum experience. Dancers are required to take this class along with either ballet III or Ballet Technique.

​Ballet IV: For dancers 11 and up, this class is by placement only. Dancers are required to take this class 2 times per week.

​Ballet Technique: For dancers ages 9+, this class is a technique only class focusing on proper alignment, placement, and technique. This class does not participate in the annual show and should be taken with another ballet class.
​Teen Ballet: For dancers ages 12+, this class is a beginning-intermediate level class focusing on proper technique and choreography skills.
Ballet for the Jazz Dancer: For dancers 11+, this class will focus on ballet technique in a less formal environment. This class can be taken in lieu of a ballet class for a jazz-only dancer.

​Pre-Pointe/Beg. Pointe: This class is for dancers 10 and up who currently take ballet 2 times per week. This class is 30 minutes long and focuses on developing foot strength needed for pointe work.

​Pointe: This class is by invitation only for dancers who have had ballet training 2 times a week for a minimum of 4 years.


Lyrical/Contemporary
Lyrical/Contemporary dance is a beautiful dance form that utilizes ballet, jazz, and modern styles to express music through dance. It is based on ballet movements set to more contemporary music. Dancers will learn proper form and alignment through our warm up exercises. All classes are one hour long.

Lyrical I: For dancers ages 7-10, with no experience required. Dancers will learn beginning lyrical movement and basic ballet technique.

Teen Lyrical I: For dancers ages 10+. No experience required. Dancers will learn beginning lyrical movement and basic ballet technique.

Lyrical II: For dancers ages 8-12. 1 year experience or teacher recommendation. Dancers will continue to progress their lyrical technique and skills.
Teen Lyrical II: For dancers ages 10+. 1 year experience or teacher recommendation required. Dancers will learn beginning lyrical movement and basic ballet technique.

Lyrical III: For dancers ages 9-15, experience is required and recommended taking in conjunction with a ballet class. Class will focus on building skill levels and longer and more difficult class combinations.
Lyrical IV/Contemporary: For dancers ages 10+,this class focuses on more contemporary technique and is for dancers with an advanced skill level. Placement is by teacher recommendation, 4+ years experience required.
Lyrical V/Contemporary: For dancers ages 10+, this class focuses on more contemporary technique and is for dancers with an advanced skill level. Placement is by teacher recommendation, 5+ years experience required.

Jazz​
A popular style of dance that has evolved over the years to include different styles of jazz dance. All classes are one hour long.

Jazz I: Dancers ages 7-10, no experience is required. Dancers will learn beginning basic jazz movement and steps.

Jazz II: Dancers ages 8-12, recommended 1 year of Jazz I. Dancers will continue their skill levels and strive to improve flexibility and coordination.

Jazz III: Dancers ages 8-14, for dancers with a minimum of 2 years of jazz. There will be more continued emphasis on flexibility, turns, leaps, and combinations.

Jazz IV: Dancers ages 10+, for dancers with a minimum of 3 years of jazz experience. This class is for advanced dancers working on more complex technique and style.
Jazz IV/V: Dancers ages 10+, placement is by teacher recommendation.

Jazz V: Dancers ages 10+, placement is by teacher recommendation.
Tap​
A popular style of dance that has been around for many years. Classes will focus on solid tap technique foundation, honoring and respecting the past while keeping current with today's style and technique. All classes are one hour long.

Tap I: Dancers ages 7-10, no experience is required. Class will focus on beginning tap steps, rhythm, and timing.
Teen Tap I: Dancers ages 10+, no experience is required. Class will focus on beginning tap steps, rhythm, and timing for older dancers.

Tap II : Dancers ages 8-12, 1 year tap experience minimum. This class will focus on building basic tap skills to prepare dancers for further technique.

Tap III: Dancers ages 9+, with a minimum of 2 years experience. This class will focus on learning more intricate footwork, steps, skill levels, and rhythms.

Tap IV: Dancers with a minimum of 4 years experience. For the advanced tap dancer, focusing on more advanced skills and longer combinations.

Acro
A dance acrobatics class that focuses on developing acrobatic skills required in so many dance styles today. Classes will also be focusing on injury prevention and strength building. All tumbling is done utilizing floor mats for dancers safety. Classes sizes are limited to also ensure dancers safety. Classes are one hour long.

Acro Beg: Dancers ages 8-12, limited or no experience. Classes will focus on strength building and very basic acro skills.
Acro Int: Experience is required, teacher recommendation only. Focus on building strength and flexibility for advanced acrobatics.
Acro Adv: Experience is required, teacher recommendation only. More focus is on advanced technique and skill building.
Street Acro: Dancers ages 9+, with a focus on hip hop floorwork.

Hip Hop​
​A Dance form that utilizes some of the latest moves that are now popular and featured on TV and dance videos. All classes are one hour long unless specified.

Hip Hop I: Dancers ages 5-7, focusing on musicality, timing, and large motor skills. No experience is required. Class is 45 minutes long.

Hip Hop I: Dancers ages 8-12, no experience required. This class is for the beginner, learning basic hip hop movement and style.

Hip Hop II: Dancers ages 8-12, this class is for the experienced dancer, 1-2 years. This class will continue developing hip hop skills.

Hip Hop Beg/Int.: Dancers ages 12-18, no experience required.
Hip Hop Int: Dancers ages 12+, teacher recommendation required.
House Hip Hop: Dancers ages 9+, this class will focus on a different style of hip hop, House. No experience is required. This is a beginning level house class.

Dance Conditioning/Turns and Leaps
This one hour class is for experienced dancers only, ages 10 and up. This class will focus on building strength, endurance, and flexibility. It will also focus on learning and developing skills required for more advanced turn and leap sequences.
Dance Cond Beg.: Dancers ages 8-18.

Dance Cond Int.: Dancers ages 8-18, 2+ years experience required.

Dance Cond Adv.: Dancers ages 8-18, teacher recommendation required.
